That’s it……Christmas is coming.xx

Its been none stop this week in the Haberdashery.

But its been half term here in Derbyshire so I’ve had my little man to help me

AND it was his 10th birthday on Thursday. So me and hubby managed to book the afternoon off to spend as a family. Even though I love birthdays it is quite sad to see your little ones grow up isn’t?Ā  But I’ve loved having him around to help me out.

So whats been happening this week….

Its been tremendously busy with customers new, old and people travelling from far and wide. We had a record amount of yarn sales, seems everyone is getting set for winter. We’ve met so many talented people of all ages. Here’s one of our young and talented……

I finished my quilt art/thread art. Loopy Sue set me a challenge do make a Tutankhamun, what do you think? I’m quite pleased with it, it’s not perfect but I think I’ve done ok!

Donations for the Hospice have been coming in thick and fast. All the decorations are gorgeous and the ladies have been working hard. I’m really grateful for everyone’s time and generosity. We have another month to go before we hand them over…….so keep up the good work ladies and gents.

Now are you ready to be bombarded with pics. We’ve had a fabric delivery and its topped us up nicely. Here’s most of them in all their glory. Cottons, poly cottons and muslins.

And halloween…did you have a good one. I hope you all dressed up for the occasion. But now Halloween’s been and gone it’s now time to get the haberdashery prepped for Christmas and we can’t wait (especially Mum).

It will be our first Christmas in our new home…..can’t wait. I’ll be posting pics of our Christmas window display very soon.

Yet again thank you all for your support. It’s lovely to see your makes. It’s defiantly the best part of my job as well as receiving your lovely comments and feedback.

Have a good weekend and we will see you again next week.

Oh and I hope you like the new look blog šŸ™‚

I’ve decided to give it a go!

After your lovely comments on Facebook I’ve decided to take the city & guilds course in embroidery.

I had a taster module last week to see if it was the right course for me. I had to design a small bag that has 3 or 4 layers of fabric and the theme was circles and lines.

So that’s my attempt and ……. i passed šŸ™‚

However I have decided that I would like Christmas out of the way first and IĀ  still have a big list of UFP’s to crack on with. So January I’ll knuckle down and take the course.

Thank you again for the lovely comments, it’s really given me a kick up the bum.

Here’s a little embroidery piece I’ve finished in the mean time

I just love the colours.

But next its to finish a quilt I started weeks ago and the decorations for the hospice.

I’ve got deliveries to unpack now so I’ll catch up with you later.

Thanks for reading. xxxxx

Behind the scene’s xxx

Another week gone and another week closer to Christmas šŸ™‚

Time is flying by and this week it’s been all about getting ready for the festive period. Mum has been helping to plan the window display, our reps have been out to show us their Christmas goodies and we also have another Fabric supplier on board . Things are moving at a fast pace but it’s really exciting.

Many of you know I’ve been practicing hand embroidery which you were all very kind and thanks to you all I’ve decided to take a taster course before I apply for the City & Guilds. I think I just needed a push in the right direction which you certainly gave me. I shall keep you informed on my progress…..fingers crossed.

Also this week my gorgeous hubby has been helping me out again. I decided to make the haberdashery more homely so he set about mounting some of my quilts on the walls…..I like it šŸ™‚

A huge thank you hubby xxx

I’ve now added a links page to our website

Here’s my list of people who inspire me. These ladies are all lovely, talented and unique. Go and have a look at their pages and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Ā  My list isn’t finished yet but I’ve made a start.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend and we will catch up with you on Monday.Ā  xxxxx

Finished my little project!

Good evening Ladies & Gents. I hope your all well. x

I’ve been working on a little project that used both hand embroidery and quilting…….my two favourite crafts.

I started by using free patterns from the lovely lady at . If you haven’t visited this site then your missing out on loads of lovely treats.

I copied the patterns on to tracing paper and then pinned the paper to a square of calico which is other of my favourite fabrics.

I hooped the pattern and the calico, grabbed a skein of pillar box red embroidery thread and a Chenille needle. I stitched using three strands but you could use two.

I really like the simplicity of redwork and these designs are just adorable.

Embroidery finished, next the quilting

I couldn’t decide whether to make a table runner or wall hanging. I couldn’t decide so I’ve gone with the two in one option.

For the wadding a used our craft cotton battling. Such good quality wadding and great to machine quilt with.

As always I use 505 spray to make a quilt sandwich

I grabbed some material off the shelves and cut, basted, quilted and added binding and this is what happened.

I think its going to have to go on display in the haberdashery for Christmas. What do you think?

On a Sunday

Sunday’s are about family, roast dinner, relaxing and a cup of tea and a piece of cake round at mums.

It’s always nice to go and see whats she’s been making.

Cushions and chair backs made with Holly Hobbie materials.

A lovely skirt made the teal fabric. This is her very first time at dress making and used one of the patterns of the Butterick easy range.

I’m really proud of her. She’s getting started on her Christmas makes now and I can’t wait to see them.

I’ve had an hour stitching, carrying on with a little project I working on for Christmas. Here’s a sneaky peak at a little bit. I don’t want to give too much away……it might not turn out right šŸ™‚

Ok I’m off to relax and to see if there’s anything worth watching on the tele.
