Its been a hectic week of unpacking new stock, working on the website and fitting in time for a bit of quilting.
So let’s have a run down of the week –
The new website launched with a Click & Collect service which has taken off well. All of our new stock in the future will be loaded straight onto our site for you to reserve and its also available to customers needing postage.
This year has been so amazing, busy and productive.
Its been a year of celebrating, alterations and a constant supply of new stock.
In March we celebrated our first birthday in the shop…
It was a lovely and over whelming day….Can’t wait until our next birthday 🙂
Throughout the year we have had so many talented customers bring in their makes to show us. This is the best part of my job, its so inspiring…..
Big alterations were made this year too. It started downstairs when we had to find someway of expanding to fit the ever growing amount of fabric. I still can’t believe the transformation…
My wounderful hubby did the most amazing job.
Next he started on the upstairs. I wanted upstairs to be an accessible and usable space which was inviting and inspiring…..
This was without doubt the biggest transformation of all. Its now a welcoming place for people to come and learn. Its now a well equipped Sewing Studio and the workshops are working really well, they are busier than I ever thought possible in such a short amount of time.
The workshops we run are small, we take 3/4 people each session. This means its a more relaxed and easier to learn. They range from soft furnishings, patchwork, quilting, knitting, crochet, textile art and hand embroidery.
Here’s a few photos ……
We’ve so so many ideas for workshops next year and I can’t wait to get back in the Sewing Studio.
Also this year we welcomed a few new suppliers to the haberdashery..
Fabric Freedom joined us…
as well as the very talented Stef Francis with her gorgeous hand dyed goodies
At last but by no means least.. Tilda
This year we called upon all of our fellow crafters to join us and help in our Rainbows Hospice Handmade Christmas appeal. We had an overwhelming and tear jerking response, we had donations brought to us in the shop and posted to us as well. I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and time.
On a personal note its been a good year for me crafting aswell. I’ve passed 3 City & Guilds cerficates this year. Hand Embroidery, Design & Stitch and Machine Embroidery AND learning to crochet.
So what’s the forecast for 2016……We are joining up with Timeless Treasures and Dear Stella Fabrics from the USA and should hopefully be receiving our first order of beautiful cottons in February. These fabrics will blow you away by the quality and designs.
We will also joining up with a few other companies regarding yarns and Sewing Machines plus we will have some exciting news about the Sewing Studio and workshops in the early part of the year.
I’m also hoping that this years success will have paved the way to having another successful year and even more growth and expansion.
But most of all I just want to thank you all, your support is second to none. I’ve met so many fantastic and talented people in store and online, whom which of many have become friends. This year would not have been possible or as enjoyable without every single one of you.
I want to thank our Sue who has worked really hard and learnt so many people to knit and crochet. Mum and Dad for being there for me and helped in the shop and last but no means least, my hubby who has worked so hard making the changes to the Haberdashery and making me a Sewing Studio which is just amazing along with putting up with me talking about sewing, yarns, buttons and everything craft related (but he has learnt a lot lol )
2015 has been a corker of a year but 2016 is going to be so much better…..
The new season Butterick catalogue went on sale on Monday with hundreds of different patterns which are all in stock. And it seems like Butterick sewing patterns are all the rage at the moment with their gorgeous retro designs.
I got into the quilting mood again this week after the arrival of all the new fabric last week.
I made up my quilt blocks using 2 metres of white cotton and a Fabric Freedom Layer cake.
My blocks are complete but I’ve been asking my lovely customers to see which layout they like the most…..
This week we also start a selection of our planned summer sales. This week the cute Kitty Kay felt kits have 20% off until 9am Thursday the 9th July 2015.
The kits come in 2 age ranges and 6 different designs – fab for keeping the little ones busy if we have a wet summer or if your travelling as these kits include everything you need. Was £15.00 now £12.00.
If you our of our fans on fb then you will know that me & hubby celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on Wednesday this week. I would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments.
We had the day off (what a rarity) and we trundled over to the historic town of Buxton. We love the Derbyshire Dales but we haven’t ever visited Buxton before. We had a lovely time visiting the old Pavillion and gardens, the quirky shops and we even got to see a spectacular thunder and lightning display on the dales.
After my day off and spending a day with hubby I was feeling very inspired. 🙂 So Thursday I had a day off from my coursework and design and make a canvas mounted textile art piece.
I quite like it, what do you think???
So it’s that time of the week again to say a massive thankyou to you all. Its been a busy and bustling week and it wouldn’t be possible without your support and lovely comments.
