Well What A Week It’s Been…….

Hi everyone,

It’s a bit bloody cold but it’s been a lovely week here…..lots to show and tell you.

This week it’s the adults turn to go first….

Monday was the start of our first quilting course in the new Sewing Studio.

The ladies picked out their fabrics, cut out what pieces they needed and started to piece together. A great start and I can’t wait for next week….

Then on Wednesday evening we had the beginners sewing workshop. We had a lovely time and everyone went home very pleased with themselves and with beautiful cushions….

The crochet group also loving the new Studio have been busy. I can tell you there’s a huge project in the pipeline ……more details to follow…

Now let’s crack on with the little ones….

Firstly our joint quilt project is coming along nicely, we still have a few more hand prints to collect…..

My new little ones got to grips with the machines, they learnt to thread, wind a bobbin, practice straight lines and curves……it was only fair after they’re hard work to let them play with decorative stitches…

My Wednesday group are on their next projects on dream clouds ….

I will be sitting down with my planner next week to arrange days and patchwork and quilting projects……I’ll keep in informed.

I got into the quilting mood again this week after the arrival of all the new fabric last week.

I made up my quilt blocks using 2 metres of white cotton and a Fabric Freedom Layer cake.

My blocks are complete but I’ve been asking my lovely customers to see which layout they like the most…..

The kits come in 2 age ranges and 6 different designs – fab for keeping the little ones busy if we have a wet summer or if your travelling as these kits include everything you need. Was £15.00 now £12.00.

If you our of our fans on fb then you will know that me & hubby celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on Wednesday this week. I would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments.

We had the day off (what a rarity) and we trundled over to the historic town of Buxton. We love the Derbyshire Dales but we haven’t ever visited Buxton before. We had a lovely time visiting the old Pavillion and gardens, the quirky shops and we even got to see a spectacular thunder and lightning display on the dales.

After my day off and spending a day with hubby I was feeling very inspired. 🙂 So Thursday I had a day off from my coursework and design and make a canvas mounted textile art piece.

I quite like it, what do you think???

Finished my little project!

Good evening Ladies & Gents. I hope your all well. x

I’ve been working on a little project that used both hand embroidery and quilting…….my two favourite crafts.

I started by using free patterns from the lovely lady at http://www.red-brolly.com . If you haven’t visited this site then your missing out on loads of lovely treats.

I copied the patterns on to tracing paper and then pinned the paper to a square of calico which is other of my favourite fabrics.

2014-09-19 12.40.10

I hooped the pattern and the calico, grabbed a skein of pillar box red embroidery thread and a Chenille needle. I stitched using three strands but you could use two.

I really like the simplicity of redwork and these designs are just adorable.

Embroidery finished, next the quilting
Embroidery finished, next the quilting

I couldn’t decide whether to make a table runner or wall hanging. I couldn’t decide so I’ve gone with the two in one option.

For the wadding a used our craft cotton battling. Such good quality wadding and great to machine quilt with.

As always I use 505 spray to make a quilt sandwich

I grabbed some material off the shelves and cut, basted, quilted and added binding and this is what happened.

I think its going to have to go on display in the haberdashery for Christmas. What do you think?
