Omg ………So Much To Show You (warning loads of pics)

Ok …….where to start!

Firstly, all the children that take part in our Sewing Bee have all been set a task after Christmas. It involved a block of quilting with their hand print bonded and stitched by hand or machine. They then added their initials…… well it’s now finished and it’s so amazing and I’m extremely proud……

Carrying on with the quilting theme…..my younger group of entrants to the Festival of Quilts have busy preparing……

Whilst my older entrants have also been preparing and dying…..

My Monday and second group on a Saturday have been busy learning to attach zips and making wonderful pencil cases…..

My little tiny stitchers on a Tuesday have been practicing straight lines by making tote bags, fully lined and looking fab…..

My Wednesday group are focusing on making Lolly the Owl……

And in between that I have another group creating their selfies……

Now for a date for your diary…….

Back in the Swing of Things

Hi everyone,

Happy January!

It might be cold and snowing but we’ve had loads going on here to keep us busy.

So the new shop opened on the 3rd. We had an extremely busy day and lots of customers and little stitchers popping in to say hello. Thank you for the overwhelming response.

img_0963img_0964img_0965img_0967img_1334

With the shop and Sewing Studio up and running, the workshop dates have been released and classes are booking up quickly Click here for up to date classes

That also means the return of our Craft and Chat night. This year we have moved the day so it’s now the first Thursday of every month.

We have a great first night in the new home. There was lots of creativity including knitting, crochet, cross stitch, lace making, sewing and appliqué….along with tea and cakes.

img_0983img_0984img_0986img_0987img_0988img_0989img_0990img_0991img_0992img_0993img_0994

The Crochet workshop also started back and got cracking on learning new patterns and techniques. This class is good for beginners and more advanced.

img_1001img_1002img_1003img_1004img_1005img_1006img_1007

My first group of little ones started back on Wednesday. The new studio got the thumbs up and we started work and our next project…..not completed yet but here’s the progress

img_1051

In between all the excitement I started on working on a new technique myself. A textile art collage and quilted over net… not sure if I like it or not at the moment….

img_1325img_1331

All in all a busy start to the year and looks like 2017 is going to be the year of new crafts, hobbies and challenges.

Happy new year to you all.

Keep warm and stay safe.

I’m pleased to say I am now unpacked and settling in. The shops ready for opening day on the 3rd January and my Sewing Studio is all set up, Singers all unpacked and ready for some more creativity….( I can’t wait to get my little switchers back in action).

A Very Creative Week :)

Hi everyone,

Its been a short week but still packed full of fun and creations.

I had an extra long weekend to spend with the family and my little man and also gave me some crochet time 🙂

IMG_4472 IMG_4435

And first day back and straight back to creativity when a lovely customer came in with a gorgeous elephant that she had made. Now the picture does not show how big he is…… 400g of Stylecraft Super Chunky Special XL.

IMG_4454
How cute is he…..Sadly he’s going off to his new home now 😦

Later this week we also had some fab lampshades made in Sewing Studio which are also off to new homes. As always everyone with a completed project and very proud of themselves…….rightly so.

IMG_4507
Come and join us on our next Lampshade Workshop and pick the fabrics you want from our Fabric Snug.

I’ve also had a present from one of my customers (yes this proves I have the best job in the world). Look what I’ve got 🙂

IMG_4511
Thank you Kim xxxx

Kim has been featured on our blog recently in our  ‘ I made that’ campaign.

Staying on that subject …..

‘I Made That’ Campaign

This weeks nomination is one amazing lady who some of you will probably know from visiting the Haberdashery….My Mum.

My Mum is absolutely insane about chickens so when she said she was thinking of making a chicken doorstop I wasn’t sure what to think.

IMG_4497
I just love it. Proud of you Mum

So what I have I been up to……

I have started to make the memory canvasses for the shop and sewing studio. I’ve managed one but still have about three more to make so far. These are photo’s of whats been made in our workshops and sewing bee and its a great reminder of what people have achieved here.

IMG_4482

I’ve also been planning April’s Sewing bee plans….

So for our younger groups we are starting using the sewing machines and making pin cushions, drawstring bags, rag dolls.

IMG_4486

For our older ones we will focus on accessories including hand bands, bows, brooches, key rings and starting hand embroidery.

Cant Wait!!!!!

Anyway thanks for joining us again on our weekly trip down memory lane.

To each and everyone of you……

This year has been so amazing, busy and productive.

Its been a year of celebrating, alterations and a constant supply of new stock.

In March we celebrated our first birthday in the shop…

(null)(2)

It was a lovely and over whelming day….Can’t wait until our next birthday 🙂

Throughout the year we have had so many talented customers bring in their makes to show us. This is the best part of my job, its so inspiring…..

20140725_103919IMG_0580IMG_0258

Big alterations were made this year too. It started downstairs when we had to find someway of expanding to fit the ever growing amount of fabric. I still can’t believe the transformation…

Before

My wounderful hubby did the most amazing job.

Next he started on the upstairs. I wanted upstairs to be an accessible and usable space which was inviting and inspiring…..

IMG_1560IMG_1557IMG_1555IMG_1553

This was without doubt the biggest transformation of all. Its now a welcoming place for people to come and learn. Its now a well equipped Sewing Studio and the workshops are working really well, they are busier than I ever thought possible in such a short amount of time.

The workshops we run are small, we take 3/4 people each session. This means its a more relaxed and easier to learn. They range from soft furnishings, patchwork, quilting, knitting, crochet, textile art and hand embroidery.

Here’s a few photos ……

We’ve so so many ideas for workshops next year and I can’t wait to get back in the Sewing Studio.

This year we called upon all of our fellow crafters to join us and help in our Rainbows Hospice Handmade Christmas appeal. We had an overwhelming and tear jerking response, we had donations brought to us in the shop and posted to us as well.  I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and time.

On a personal note its been a good year for me crafting aswell. I’ve passed 3 City & Guilds cerficates this year. Hand Embroidery, Design & Stitch and Machine Embroidery AND learning to crochet.

You can view all of my coursework at Coursework Blog

Not bad for my first try
Not bad for my first try

So what’s the forecast for 2016……We are joining up with Timeless Treasures and Dear Stella Fabrics from the USA and should hopefully be receiving our first order of beautiful cottons in February. These fabrics will blow you away by the quality and designs.

We will also joining up with a few other companies regarding yarns and Sewing Machines plus we will have some exciting news about the Sewing Studio and workshops in the early part of the year.

I’m also hoping that this years success will have paved the way to having another successful year and even more growth and expansion.

But most of all I just want to thank you all, your support is second to none. I’ve met so many fantastic and talented people in store and online, whom which of many have become friends. This year would not have been possible or as enjoyable without every single one of you.

I want to thank our Sue who has worked really hard and learnt so many people to knit and crochet. Mum and Dad for being there for me and helped in the shop and last but no means least, my hubby who has worked so hard making the changes to the Haberdashery and making me a Sewing Studio which is just amazing along with putting up with me talking about sewing, yarns, buttons and everything craft related (but he has learnt a lot lol )

2015 has been a corker of a year but 2016 is going to be so much better…..

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone….I
