To each and everyone of you……

This year has been so amazing, busy and productive.

Its been a year of celebrating, alterations and a constant supply of new stock.

In March we celebrated our first birthday in the shop…

It was a lovely and over whelming day….Can’t wait until our next birthday 🙂

Throughout the year we have had so many talented customers bring in their makes to show us. This is the best part of my job, its so inspiring…..

Big alterations were made this year too. It started downstairs when we had to find someway of expanding to fit the ever growing amount of fabric. I still can’t believe the transformation…

My wounderful hubby did the most amazing job.

Next he started on the upstairs. I wanted upstairs to be an accessible and usable space which was inviting and inspiring…..

This was without doubt the biggest transformation of all. Its now a welcoming place for people to come and learn. Its now a well equipped Sewing Studio and the workshops are working really well, they are busier than I ever thought possible in such a short amount of time.

The workshops we run are small, we take 3/4 people each session. This means its a more relaxed and easier to learn. They range from soft furnishings, patchwork, quilting, knitting, crochet, textile art and hand embroidery.

Here’s a few photos ……

We’ve so so many ideas for workshops next year and I can’t wait to get back in the Sewing Studio.

Also this year we welcomed a few new suppliers to the haberdashery..

as well as the very talented Stef Francis with her gorgeous hand dyed goodies

At last but by no means least.. Tilda

This year we called upon all of our fellow crafters to join us and help in our Rainbows Hospice Handmade Christmas appeal. We had an overwhelming and tear jerking response, we had donations brought to us in the shop and posted to us as well.  I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and time.

On a personal note its been a good year for me crafting aswell. I’ve passed 3 City & Guilds cerficates this year. Hand Embroidery, Design & Stitch and Machine Embroidery AND learning to crochet.

So what’s the forecast for 2016……We are joining up with Timeless Treasures and Dear Stella Fabrics from the USA and should hopefully be receiving our first order of beautiful cottons in February. These fabrics will blow you away by the quality and designs.

We will also joining up with a few other companies regarding yarns and Sewing Machines plus we will have some exciting news about the Sewing Studio and workshops in the early part of the year.

I’m also hoping that this years success will have paved the way to having another successful year and even more growth and expansion.

But most of all I just want to thank you all, your support is second to none. I’ve met so many fantastic and talented people in store and online, whom which of many have become friends. This year would not have been possible or as enjoyable without every single one of you.

I want to thank our Sue who has worked really hard and learnt so many people to knit and crochet. Mum and Dad for being there for me and helped in the shop and last but no means least, my hubby who has worked so hard making the changes to the Haberdashery and making me a Sewing Studio which is just amazing along with putting up with me talking about sewing, yarns, buttons and everything craft related (but he has learnt a lot lol )

2015 has been a corker of a year but 2016 is going to be so much better…..

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone….I

Hello December !!!!

Hi Everyone,

Its time to post again. The weeks are flying by aren’t they. Its hard to believe that December is nearly upon us.

Last week I joined our Sue’s in a Crochet workshop open day. I have tried to Crochet so many times but never succeeded. I could quite happily sew and quilt all day long however its impossible to keep carting my sewing machine home every night so it was time to try something new, something I could sit by the fire and watch the soaps at the same time.

So this time I was determined to learn how to Crochet and after a few false starts I manage my first granny square. I know its not much however I’m very proud of myself 🙂  I aim to make a small blanket…..fingers crossed.

But the main event this week was definatley Swadlincote’s Christmas lights switch on.

We have lots of events throughout the year outside our shop. We are in the perfect spot to enjoy all of them, however the light switch on is most definalty my favourite by far.

In the daytime there were choirs form all the local schools in the area, we had a bit a Salsa lesson and in the evening live bands played….

IMG_3334 IMG_3304

Along with the fairground rides and food, craft stalls.

We were in prime position for the firework display ……

IMG_3314 IMG_3316 IMG_3317

Then it was time for the switch on ……

IMG_3331 IMG_3329 IMG_3328

Late night opening meant we met even more new customers, so it was a pretty amazing day.

Thank you to everyone that has visited us online and in store, your support is absolutely amazing 🙂

Next week…..we have a huge wool order arriving and some more Christmas fabrics.

Keep warm and I’ll see you again on Monday.

New Stock, New Workshops and a Fab Time !

Well hello everyone,

I hope you are all well AND warm 🙂

This week I’m going to start with the new stock that has come in this week….

I’ll begin with the gorgeous knitting bags

We also have them in spotty fabric ( but I forgot to take a photo 😦 )

Staying on the knitting theme, we now have huge needles in stock…

Next is my favourite of this weeks new stock ….

Delicate 10mm lace  – So pretty

And last but not least – another batch of Guttermann Threads in. Its taking a while to get our stand full…..But we are nearly there. IMG_3226

The Sewing Studio has also been busy this week and on Tuesday eveving  we had one of our bunting workshops.

Again we had a brilliant time 🙂

Everyone did really well.

Staying with the sewing studio – I’ve now released the dates for January’s workshops. Theres a few new features for next year including Block of the Month that will start in January and continue to December. You don’t need to come to every one, you can pick and choose.

And also textile art techniques will also be running once a month. Again you don’t need to come to every one, you can pick and choose.

January’s Textile Art Workshop is stitch and slash ….IMG_3225

But all of the dates are here and you can book online or in store.

Still sticking with The Sewing Studio and new for next year …Baby Showers.

In 3 hours you will have lots of fun, be creative, drink lots of tea and Mum to be will leave with her own handmade baby quilt, made by all her guests.

A truly memorable gift to treasure for life. Using basic patchwork techniques, guests will cut out a selection of square and rectangle shapes from our lovely variety of cotton prints suitable for both baby girls and boys. The cot size quilt will soon take shape with everyone sewing panels, cutting boarders and embellishing areas with embroidery, buttons and ribbon. The more experienced sewers will then quilt a design and sew it all together. All materials and equipment  are provided.
