This week has been full of fantastic creations that have been made here in our very own Sewing Studio.
So let me show you whats been going on….
First up – Our children’s Sewing Bee. The children range from 8yrs – 16yrs divided into three groups. It’s amazing how popular this has become and I’ve had to start a waiting list. They get to have a go at all aspects of sewing and here’s what they have been up to…
Our crochet workshop was also in full swing and learning a new skill – Tunisian Crochet.
Our Crochet and Knitting runs every Saturday just pop me a message to book.
The three-part quilting workshop came to an end on Wednesday evening. I’m so proud of the ladies that took part. Over the three weeks they have learnt to use a rotary cutter safely, measure and cut blocks, piecing their quilt tops , basting, quilting and binding.
The end products are amazing….
Its seem the ladies have caught the quilting bug :)…
I began a quilting project myself this week …… I’m a huge fan of bargello quilts so I decided to have a go. This was an experience to say the least, after blunting 3 rotary cutter blades, using over 300 metres of thread and some serious sewing time but I’m so pleased with it…..
Thats it for another week guys, we are closed Bank Holiday Monday but back open Tuesday normal hours. Thank you so much for your support this week.
We’ve had workshops, new stock and a visit from Superman (with photo evidence to prove it)
Lets start off with this weeks workshops.
My little sewers in the Sewing Bee last week got to grips with the sewing machines. So we began with straight stitches, stitch lengths, decorative stitches and curves…..
On the same day our Sue was continuing with the Crochet Workshop where the ladies a carrying on with crocheted tops…….progress report –
On Wednesday evening we had the first part of the three-part quilting course. This session was aimed at design, picking fabric combinations, learning to use a rotary cutter and cutting mat safely and we even managed to start piecing our blocks together.
On Thursday we had the Beginners Free Motion workshop. Learning about the essentials for free motion and to sketch and appliqué with a sewing machine…
New Wool Alert
The Stylecraft Yarn we started stocking last month has been a huge hit so it was time to stock up. So we’ve had new colours in DK, 4Ply, Aran and Chunky.
Its been a hectic but a very enjoyable week, its overwhelming how busy we’ve been. Thank you for all of your support.
This week more deliveries arrived, new knitting patterns and good old-fashioned craft books….knitting, crochet, quilting and textiles books have replenished our bookshelves.
Finally after being nagged about blogging a tutorial I sat down and blogged a tutorial 🙂 . A quilt as you go shopping bag which you can find on the blog or click here
The Sewing Studio came alive again on Thursday night with our popular beginners sewing workshop. This time the end project was a enveloped cushion. So in 2 hours of getting creative, having a laugh, giggle, tea and biscuits the cushions were finished and ready to take home.
I’ve also had the chance to finish off a couple of UFP’s (unfinished projects) ….
But we’ve also celebrated our 2nd Birthday this week……. I just wanted to say thank you for everyone’s support over the last two years. Its been so overwhelming and I’ve met some many fantastic people. It’s the best job in the world x
